STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS OF THE ACTIVITY AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE OFFICE OF THE STUDENT OMBUDSMAN OF THE POLTAVA UNIVERSITY OF ECONOMICS AND TRADE UNDER THE CONDITIONS OF THE MARITAL STATE

Abstract

The office of the student ombudsman serves to implement the principles of humanism, legality, justice, impartiality, independence, accessibility, transparency, inviolability of personal life of individuals and confidentiality of information about them. The office acts as a mediator between the academic environment and society, aiming to strengthen a culture of open and respectful attitude for diversity. Its activities are based on providing and promoting legal arguments and guidelines for the development of an inclusive, tolerant and dialogue-oriented academic community. The Office of the Student Ombudsman serves as a point of contact for students and staff who are experiencing unequal treatment and discrimination or who have questions about how to provide an inclusive (academic) environment. The legal regime of martial law provides for a temporary restriction of the constitutional rights and freedoms of a person and a citizen, including the right to education. Challenges in the field of higher education, caused by the large-scale armed aggression of the russian federation against Ukraine, make it necessary to review the strategy of activity and development of the office of the student ombudsman of Poltava University of Economics and Trade. Among the priority directions are the protection of the rights, freedoms and legitimate interests of students under martial law, independent, impartial, confidential consideration of appeals from participants in the educational process, support of an inclusive educational environment, compliance with human rights and international humanitarian law, general analysis of appeals, ensuring the safety of educational participants process, informational support and counseling regarding their rights and responsibilities, procedures for resolving conflict situations, maintaining access to education, supporting the psychosocial well-being of the educational environment, cooperation with other structural units, with representatives of student self-government, the psychological service and other stakeholders, and others. The purpose of the article is to determine the strategic directions of activity and development of the student ombudsman office of Poltava University of Economics and Trade under martial law. Research methodology. The set goal achievement in the article using the following research methods: comparative, analytical, forecasting. Practical significance and recommendations. The indicated strategic directions of activity and development of the student ombudsman office of Poltava University of Economics and Trade under martial law will be laid in the basis of the new Strategy for 2023-2027.
