CURRENT STATE AND DEVELOPMENT TRENDS OF THE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SECTOR IN UKRAINE
Abstract
The purpose of the article is to conduct a study of the current state and development trends of the information technology sector in Ukraine. Methodology of research. The methodological basis of this study is the provisions of economic theory regarding entrepreneurship, modern management theory, theoretical provisions and concepts of domestic and foreign scientists on information technologies, their features and prospects. The informational base of the study consists of normative and legislative acts, resolutions of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, statistical materials. Findings. The dynamism and prospects of the development of the domestic IT industry in recent years have been proven. The conducted analysis of IT as one of the spheres of economic activity as IT showed the importance of the growth of its share in the formation of the national economy. It was revealed that the problems of the IT sector in the country include a low level of protection of intellectual property rights, the issue of emigration of a significant number of IT sector specialists, the presence of undeveloped markets for financial and venture investments, state intervention, which is manifested in the absence of predictable and consistent taxation, etc. The strengths of the Ukrainian IT industry are singled out, the main of which are: the human capital factor, which is determined by the high intellectual level of the population, its availability of higher professional education; low cost of communication resources. Prospective directions for the further development of the information technology sector in Ukraine are substantiated. Practical value. The practical use of the results of this study should be an in-depth analysis of the development of the domestic IT sector, the specification of measures to improve the situation in the industry, in particular, the elimination of legislative, institutional, fiscal and tax, currency and monetary barriers, and the adoption of powerful measures to stimulate the "digitalization" of sectors economy and business.
