CONCEPTUAL FOUNDATIONS OF RESEARCH ETHICS IN ECONOMICS

Abstract

The purpose of the article is to provide a theoretical substantiation of the conceptual foundations of scientific research ethics in economics. Methodology of research. To achieve the goal, a comprehensive scientific approach was used, based on a combination of general scientific and special methods of Cognition: System Analysis – to study the totality of principles of ethical research as an integral system; comparative analysis to identify differences between economic and institutional ethics; critical analysis of literature sources – to identify gaps in modern theory. Results. The key conceptual aspects of ethics in economic research are revealed: principles of ethical research, normative economic foundations, conceptual ethics and conceptual engineering, economic ethics (business ethics) and institutionalism. The article presents the evolution of concepts of research ethics in economics: ethical principles in research involving people (Belmont Report); the principle of "3R" (replacement, reduction, improvement); social responsibility; the main ethical framework of research in economics (utilitarianism, deontology, ethics of virtues). A comprehensive structure of the conceptual foundations of ethics in economic research has been developed, which includes key ethical approaches and concepts (corporate social responsibility, ethics of sustainable development, ESG principles, economics of the common good, ethics of trust), tools for implementing ethics (codes of ethics, ethical investments and impact investments); specific ethical problems in the economy (conflict of interest, ethics of working with data and confidentiality, responsibility in the field of policy advising). Practical value .of the research results it is possible to use them to improve the quality and reliability of Economic Research in Ukraine. The implementation of the research results will contribute to the integration of the Ukrainian economic community into the global scientific space, where compliance with ethical standards is a prerequisite for publication in publications of the Scopus and Web of Science levels.
