PROSPECTS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF INNOVATIVE STARTUP PROJECTS IN DIGITAL MEDICINE

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine the role of medical startups in the development of the digital ecosystem and the prospects for the development of innovative startup projects in digital medicine. Methodology of research. The research methodology is based on a generalization of modern theoretical approaches, a theoretical and methodological analysis of scientific literature, a structural and functional analysis of global and European startup development rankings, a generalization in determining the development of national MedTech startups and the main prospects for the development of digital medicine startups. Findings. Based on the generalization of the global startup rating, it was determined that starting in 2023, the startup ecosystem of Ukraine adapted to the challenges of military aggression and demonstrated one of the highest growth rates + 26.22%. It is proven that the national market of digital medicine startups is in a phase of active growth, due to the development of IT technologies and the needs of wartime. The key segments of the national HealthTech market are: rehabilitation technologies and devices; telemedicine technologies; Medical AI; Mental Health; information and telecommunication systems. It is emphasized that a promising direction for the development of MedTech startups is the introduction of telemedicine technologies to provide access to medical consultations for citizens from regions with destroyed healthcare infrastructure. Support for innovative startup projects comes from a combination of domestic institutions and international partners. The state institution that supports technological innovative startup projects and promotes their implementation is the Ukrainian Startup Fund, which is the largest state angel investor providing non-repayable grants. Priorities are given to MedTech startups that are aimed at providing medical care to the military, the wounded, and their physical and mental rehabilitation. Practical value. Promising directions for the development of MedTech technologies in Ukraine are: creation of technological prostheses and applications for rehabilitation after injuries; development of IT programs for monitoring health status, prevention of chronic diseases and support of a healthy lifestyle. Further research should be directed at assessing the effectiveness of MedTech startups in the post-war recovery of the national economy.
