CURRENT STATE AND PROSPECTS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF FRANCHISING AS A FORM OF VETERAN ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Keywords: veteran entrepreneurship, franchising, veteran reintegration, entrepreneurship, institutional environment

Abstract

The socio-economic reintegration of military veterans is a key challenge for the post-war recovery of Ukraine’s economy. While entrepreneurship is considered an effective path to adaptation, veterans face significant barriers, including a lack of specific civilian business experience, limited access to financial capital and the absence of established business networks. This article aims to investigate the current state and prospects for the development of franchising as a specific form of veteran entrepreneurship in Ukraine. The methodological basis of the study relies on a systemic approach and combines general scientific methods, including theoretical analysis, synthesis, generalization, and comparison. The study also includes an analysis of the current Ukrainian market conditions, the legal framework and existing state support instruments. The study confirms that the franchise model is a highly suitable instrument for the economic reintegration of veterans. Its primary advantage lies in mitigating start-up risks by providing a ready-made business system, brand recognition and operational support. The main barriers to the development of veteran franchising in Ukraine have been identified as financial (limited access to credit), institutional (legal ambiguity and lack of targeted state programs) and informational (low awareness among both veterans and franchisors). The analysis shows that the post-2022 transformation of the Ukrainian market has created new niches for veteran-led franchises in services and small-scale production. Furthermore, existing state grant programs can be used to finance franchise fees, representing a significant but underutilized opportunity. The results of this study have significant practical value for multiple stakeholders. The originality of this research lies in its comprehensive analysis of franchising as a specific tool for veteran reintegration within the unique context of post-war Ukraine. The article fills a gap in the national scientific discourse by providing a structured overview of the state, problems, and prospects of veteran franchising and offering evidence-based recommendations.
