YOUTH UNEMPLOYMENT: STRATEGIES TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM
Abstract
The purpose of the article is to analyse the main causes of youth unemployment, its dynamics and to develop strategies for overcoming the problem in Ukraine and the world. The research methodology includes statistical analysis, comparative approach, analysis of economic trends and evaluation of the effectiveness of public and private initiatives for youth employment. Findings. Ukraine uses similar approaches to tackling youth unemployment as those used globally. The most successful international practices, such as dual education, support for start-ups, development of the digital economy, state employment guarantees and tax incentives for employers, have significant potential for adaptation to Ukrainian realities. Implementation of these strategies will help reduce youth unemployment, increase the competitiveness of young people in the labour market, and ensure sustainable economic development of the country. An important step is also the integration of modern digital technologies into employment, the development of retraining programmes, and the creation of conditions for attracting foreign investment in the youth sector of the economy. Further research should focus on the effectiveness of different approaches to overcoming youth unemployment, taking into account the specifics of the Ukrainian labour market. In particular, it is necessary to analyse in detail the mechanisms for adapting international experience to national conditions, assess the economic impact of introducing dual education, study the impact of digital transformation on youth employment, and develop effective models for integrating NEET youth into the labour market. An important aspect is to further analyse public and private initiatives in the field of youth employment and assess their long-term impact on the country's socio-economic development. Practical value of the research results lies in the development of recommendations for authorities, educational institutions and employers to improve the mechanisms of youth employment and increase their competitiveness in the labour market.
