Abstract

In this scientific article, a thorough and comprehensive analysis of the concept of an 'ecosystem' and all its related components is performed. It is established that an ecosystem can be defined as a system of interaction between living organisms and the non-living environment within a specific natural object or region. This interaction is regulated by internal mechanisms such as biological cycles, competition for resources, and ecological interactions. Given the significance of maintaining ecosystem stability, emphasis is placed on the fact that any interference in the functioning of ecosystems can lead to imbalances and unforeseeable consequences. This information is crucial for the formulation of management strategies that aim to strike a balance between human needs and the preservation of natural environments in their pristine state. The impact of ecosystem factors on economic activity is analyzed, both at the level of individual entities and in the context of the global economy. It is revealed that the services provided by ecosystems play a significant role in shaping economic activities and market mechanisms. The article also explores the concept of the interrelationship between economic activity and the state of ecosystems. The primary categories of the economy's influence on ecosystems, including pollution, biodiversity loss, and depletion of natural resources, are identified. Furthermore, an extended toolkit for assessing the state of ecosystems is provided, encompassing economic, ecological, and social indicators. This toolkit enables a comprehensive analysis of ecosystem conditions and their importance for the economy and society. A classification of ecosystem services is presented, highlighting their role in promoting economic well-being and sustainable development. Methods for assessing ecosystem services are discussed, encompassing various approaches from financial evaluations to social indicators. The importance of considering environmental factors in decision-making and the development of sustainable practices in contemporary business is underscored. This information is valuable for those who intend to actively contribute to the modern ecological paradigm and promote businesses that contribute to ecosystem preservation and sustainable development.
